Title: Plagued By More than Love

Pairings/Characters: Xabi Alonso/Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger.

Disclaimer: This would only be true in a perfect world.

Summary: You’ll have to read it to find out.

Author’s Note: Comments are welcome, wanted, and very much appreciated!!! Mistakes are mine. This has actually taken me a while to write. Not only because it is hovering around 3,500 to 4,000 words but because I kept changing things around.

The players entered the changing room, heads down in despair, knowing they had missed the perfect opportunity to increase their lead over Chelsea at the top of the table.

“Fuck!” Jamie exclaimed tossing his jersey down on the floor.

“Don’t beat yourself up over the own goal Jamie. It was an accident - it could’ve happened to anyone,” Xabi said trying to console the vice-captain.

“Yeah it could’ve, but it didn’t and now the top of the table is ripe for Chelsea’s taking,” Jamie said growing increasingly frustrated.

“Let’s just forget about it. The game is over and done with. The only thing we can do is train hard and win the next one,” Steven said defusing the situation before it escaladed any farther.

“Hey Steven, what is this?” Xabi said picking an envelope up off of the bench.

“Huh? I don’t know. To be honest I didn’t really notice it ‘till you pointed it out,” Steven said taking the letter from the Spaniard. “From your dearest and truest fan,” he read to himself out loud off of the envelope. “Must be some sort of fan mail,” he said flipping the envelope over in his hands before setting it back down on the bench. “Come on, let’s go clean up,” he said wrapping his arm around the Spaniard’s waist and pulling him along towards the cloud of steam that was the showering room.

By the time Steven and Xabi had gotten done showering, the rest of the team had already left the changing room and were well on their way home.

“Don’t you think it’s a bit odd?” Xabi asked Steven as he was drying himself.

“What, that we tied Hull? Yeah, but weirder things have happened,” Steven said as he pulled his shirt on.

“No not that Steven. That a letter from a fan would just be lying here in the locker room after a match,” Xabi said with a worried tone of voice.

“Don’t worry about it so much - I’m sure it’s fine. Come on, let’s go home.”

As Steven and Xabi walked to their car, Xabi couldn’t help but continue to worry. In all his time at Liverpool, a letter from a fan has never shown up in the locker room. All fan mail was delivered to Melwood after it had been run through the precautionary screening at the post office. Obviously Steven doesn’t think too much about it. Maybe I am blowing this all out of proportion, Xabi thought to himself.

The expression across Xabi’s face was as clear as day to Steven. “Xabi, would you please stop worrying about the letter? If it makes it any better I’ll open it right here, right now.” Steven tore the end off of the envelope and blew inside to detach the letter which was stuck to the envelope. When he did so, a white powder was blown back in his face, lightly blanketing his hair and his face.

“What the hell type of prank is this?” Steven said coughing.

“I don’t think this is a prank Steven,” Xabi said taking out his mobile.

The ambulance had arrived in no time at all in comparison to the time it took to convince the operator on the emergency line to send one. By the time Steven and Xabi had arrived at the hospital they were taken to a showering room in the Biohazard wing designated for instances such as these and told to rinse thoroughly - to scrub their skin until it began to flake off, figuratively of course.

When they had dried off, they were put into an airtight quarantine room - air was allowed in, but not out – made entirely of Plexiglas, filled with multiple beds and UV lights that hung from the ceiling. Once they had settled, blood was taken to be tested. Just within an hour, a doctor and two nurses came back, masks covering their noses and mouths, manila folders in hand containing the test results from Anfield’s midfield maestros.

“So Mr. Gerrard, is Liverpool going to win the title this year?” one of the nurses asked

“Yeah we’re going to win the title. Who else would?” Steven replied cockily.

As Steven talked to the first nurse about the title race, the other was inserting an IV into his arm.

“Steven would you stop it…” Xabi said across the room. “…we’re only half way through the season and he thinks we’ve already won the title,” Xabi mumbled to himself. “I swear he’s like one big kid bragging about the new toy he got for Christmas,” he continued.

“So I assume Steven’s blood results came back positive,” Xabi said as the doctor approached the bed that he was lying in.

“You assume correctly. They came back positive for pneumonic plague,” the doctor replied, anticipating Xabi’s next question.

“Pneumonic plague?” Xabi said gulping.

“Don’t worry – you’re not infected. You’re blood results came back negative.”

“Does Steven know the results of our tests?”

“No he does not.”

“Do you mind if we don’t tell him that my results came back negative? I want him to think that they’re positive.”

“I’m sorry Mr. Alonso, I cannot allow that. Pneumonic plague is an airborne pathogen – you could become infected with the virus by simply breathing it in.”

“Aren’t these UV lights supposed to kill any germs that are in the air or are they simply here for patient morale?” Xabi said motioning to the blue lights that hung from the ceiling.

“You can’t stay in this room.”

“You will allow it whether you like it or not,” Xabi hissed through his teeth.

“Alright, alright, I’ll allow it for now. But when I say it’s time to leave you will do so,” the doctor replied before turning around and heading toward the entrance/exit of the room.

“So because I’m being hooked up to IVs, given medication, and you guys’ are wearing masks doc, I guess I’ve been infected by the baby powder,” Steven said.

“You’ve been infected with pneumonic plague Mr. Gerrard,” the doctor said just short of leaving the room.

“Plague?”

“That’s right Steven, only you would go and get you and I infected with a disease from the Dark Ages,” Xabi said interrupting.

“You’re infected? “ Steven asked. “Oh Xabi I’m so sorry. I should’ve listened to you and not opened the envelope,” he continued tears welling up in his eyes.

“It’s fine, let’s just forget about it – there is nothing we can do about it now,” Xabi said turning over away from Steven in his bed. I’m sorry I had to act that way Steven.

Minutes later Xabi turned to apologize to Steven but the Scouser had already fallen asleep. Xabi swung his legs over the edge of his bed and traversed the room to Steven’s side.

“Oh Steven…I’m so sorry. I should’ve done more to stop you from opening the letter. It’s my fault,” Xabi whispered under his breath, rubbing his hand through Steven’s hair. “I promise we’ll make it through this together,” Xabi said as a tear crashed onto Steven’s cheek.

As the hours of the night began to pass, it was obvious to Xabi that the virus had begun its assault on Steven’s body. Throughout the night, as Steven slept, he coughed frequently, spitting up phlegm and congestion from his lungs. He was also drenched in sweat and was the recipient of cold chills quite often. Xabi stayed awake the entire night, watching over his lover, enduring emotional pain that was the equivalent of the physical pain that Steven was suffering from.

The nurse made frequent trips throughout the night to check on Steven’s status.

“How’s he doing?” Xabi asked with the exhaustion evident in his voice.

“He’s stable, but the virus isn’t letting up a bit. For now, he is only experiencing flu and pneumonia-like symptoms,” the nurse said scribbling notes in Steven’s medical file. “Fever, coughing, sweating, and cold chills,” she muttered. “The things I’m sure you’ve witnessed throughout the night.”

“Is that a good thing?” Xabi said, his eyelids feeling as though they weighed a ton each.

“No not really. At this stage, the virus is weakening his immune system, making him more susceptible to other bacterial infections. However, I’m afraid he has yet to weather the worse of this storm yet.

“Oh,” Xabi said beginning to doze off.

“Maybe you should get some sleep Xabi - you look dead. We’ll watch over him – I promise,” the nurse said.

“Thank you,” Xabi said sliding down into his bed. “I guess a short nap couldn’t hurt.”

“Oh but before you do I need you to put this on,” the nurse said handing Xabi a mask. The Spaniard complied with the order seeing as he was too tired to argue.

Danny had arrived sometime while both Steven and Xabi were asleep in their temporary home. He was there every time the nurses made trips throughout the night to check on Steven and ensure that he was as good as he could’ve been under the current circumstances.

“This is awful,” Danny breathed out.

“Indeed it is,” the doctor said slightly startling the Dane.

“You must be the doctor in charge.” The doctor nodded in reply. “Tell me you have some good news then. I’ve been here for less than an hour, and from the looks of things he’s not doing so well.”

“We have been researching this particular strand of the plague ever since we took a sample of blood from Steven, and after hours of work, we have actually discovered something quite shocking.”

“And what would that be?”

“Well for starters this is no ordinary strand of the plague. It has been biologically engineered which would take a biochemist with a substantial amount of wealth to alter and inevitably create it.”

“Or someone with a substantial amount of wealth in general in addition to an incredibly evil, dark side as well as the right connections.”

“This is true. Now do you want the good news of the bad news first?”

“Surprise me.”

“This strand has been altered so that it is able to resist any form of medication meaning that there is really nothing we can do in terms of providing medication to reduce the severity of the symptoms.”

“I take it that is the bad news.”

“Yes, but we have also discovered that a suicide chain was embedded within the virus which means…”

…that the virus will stop duplicating and begin to die off over a certain time period,” Danny answered. “So, how long until this chain activates?”

“We have estimated that it should take affect within 24 hours after the specimen has been infected.”

“And how long has it been so far?”

“Just about 24 hours actually, give or take a few minutes. Now if you’ll excuse me,” the doctor said turning and walking away.

“So once this virus dies Steven will be alright, right?”

“Not necessarily. By then the damage will have already been done by the virus. It will be up to Steven to do the rest – but only time will tell.”

Xabi was awoken by another of Steven’s cough spasms only this one sounded a lot worse than any of the others he had heard. Two nurses hurried into the room a few seconds later - one of them held him up by his shoulders, supporting his weight since he had not the strength to do it himself, while the other held a rag in front of his mouth. When she pulled the white cloth back after the spasm had ended, Xabi noticed the crimson colored blood that had soaked into it.

Soon thereafter, Xabi noticed the loss of color that had occurred over the period of time he had been asleep. Steven was never the tannest person, especially compared to Xabi, but over night he had gone from a darker shade of peach to almost ghost white. In addition, dark purple colored circles had formed under both of his eyes, from the lack of sleep he had gotten Xabi guessed. He also noticed that Steven had been hooked up to an additional IV.

“What is the other IV for?” Xabi questioned walking up to one of the nurses, after he had climbed out of bed.

“The first is pumping water into his body to keep him adequately hydrated as you may know already,” the nurse said pointing to the IV that was filled with clear liquid. “With all the sweating he’s been doing we’ve had to double the amount of water we’re pumping into his body. The second IV,” the nurse said pointing to an IV filled with a darker liquid than the first “is pumping adequate nutrients into his body. The virus isn’t allowing him to hold down much of the food we give him.”

For all of the effort Xabi was putting in to remain strong in front of Steven, his façade was beginning to crack. When Xabi turned away from the nurses and Steven to collect himself, he saw Danny through the clear walls of the quarantine room.

One of the two nurses exited the quarantine room followed by Xabi and when he did so, he collapsed into Danny’s arms and began to sob uncontrollably.

“He’s dying Danny and there is nothing I can do!” Xabi cried his voice muffled as he talked into Danny’s chest.

Danny hated seeing Xabi in this state of mind and Steven in the condition he was in. He knew these two didn’t deserve any of the pain they were on the receiving end of. The two of them had been the model of the perfect couple, having a happy, healthy relationship, even if it was lived in the shadows of secrecy. The two had hardly done a bad thing in their lives, always putting others before themselves. Danny was so saddened by the whole affair that it took everything he had to keep from breaking down himself.

“Look at me Xabi,” Danny said taking the Spaniards head into his hands. “You can’t lose faith, not now, not ever, you hear me. You’re so much better than that. You and Steven have been together the better part of four years and you have endured much in that time. You’ll never walk alone – remember that forever and always,” Danny said looking into the tear drenched eyes of his club teammate.

Danny gave Xabi a few minutes to dry his eyes and compose himself.

“I would ask you to come in and visit him but I wouldn’t want you to get infected” Xabi said his voice slightly trembling.

“They didn’t tell you yet?” Danny asked somewhat surprised.

“Tell me what?”

“I’ll explain later, come on.”

As Xabi and Danny turned to enter the quarantined room that Steven and the single nurse were in, they broke into a run when they saw that Steven had entered another one of his coughing spasms and that the nurse was struggling to sit him up in his bed. When they entered the room they were met by the sound of panic originating from the nurse and a gurgling sound that was coming from Steven.

“What’s happening?” Xabi asked worriedly.

“He’s choking on the blood that he is coughing up,” the nurse answered. “You,” the nurse said pointing to Danny, “hold him up by his shoulders.”

Danny did as he was told. After he had managed to stabilize Steven’s weight, the nurse began to smack Steven in his back, trying to force the blood out of his throat with little success.

“His heart rate is dropping rapidly!” the nurse exclaimed, beginning to panic even more than what she already was. It was obvious at this point that this nurse was inexperienced and had not been confronted by a situation such as this in however long she had been in work.

Xabi could only stand and watch in horror as his worst nightmare was unfolding before his eyes.

Danny had enough time to catch a glimpse of Xabi’s horrified expression out of the corner of his eyes, and a split second to react. He pushed the nurse into Xabi’s arms, and set Steven flat on his back. Then, he tilted Steven’s head slightly back at an incline, opened his mouth, and began to perform CPR.

“Come on Steven. We’re not going to lose you – we can’t. Most importantly, Xabi can’t,” Danny said as he pushed down on Steven’s chest, directly above his lungs trying to revive him. As he went to breath into Steven’s mouth for the fourth time, a fountain of blood splashed into Danny’s face as Steven coughed it back up and himself to life.

“I always knew you had the hots for me Danny,” Steven said after he had finished coughing, ending with a weak chuckle.

“Darn, you caught me red faced,” Danny said wiping the blood from his mouth with a cloth before wiping the blood from the corners of Steven’s mouth.

Danny had stayed in the quarantined room that night at Xabi’s request to keep him company. That and Danny knew now was not the time for Steven and Xabi to be alone. Although there was little he could do to improve the situation, he could at least provide a moral backbone. He stood with his back leaned against the wall, arms crossed watching silently as Xabi tossed recklessly in his sleep and Steven wheezed and labored to breath in his.

“Danny?” Xabi said turning over and sitting up in his bed.

“Yes Xabi, what can I do for you?”

“Earlier you were going to tell me something. What was it?”

“Oh, right. Steven will be fine.”

“How do you know that?”

“Trust me, he will. Now get some sleep.”

(One week later)

Steven grabbed Xabi and pushed him against the bedroom door, and grinding his hips against the Spaniards, he began to make room for his tongue between the lips of his lover. Soft gasps were exchanged into each other’s mouths as they began to strip each other’s clothes from their bodies letting them fall where they may. Xabi took hold of Steven’s shoulders and tossed him onto the mattress and cool sheets of the bed before straddling the Scouser. From there Xabi began to aggressively plant kisses on every inch of the Englishman’s bare chest, nibbling on the soft skin of his neck and nipples which earned enthusiastic moans from Steven.

In the blink of an eye Steven had bucked Xabi off of him using his hips and it was now the Spaniard who was on his back with the Scouser straddling him, worshipping the temple that was Xabi’s muscles. Steven pressed butterfly kisses down the tanned body that was under him that fluttered away just as fast as they had been planted until he had reached the destination of his journey. Taking Xabi’s member in his mouth, Steven began to inflict a euphoric sensation upon the Spaniard that caused him to writhe, wiggle, and squirm, whereby the only word that escaped his lips during that time was ‘Fuck’.

Xabi had to pull Steven away from his member by his hair to prevent himself from coming right there on the spot.

“I want to feel you inside me. The two of us moving as one,” Xabi panted kissing Steven several times before the Scouser flipped him over onto his stomach.

From there, the two became lost in their own ecstasitic fantasy. As Steven pushed the whole of himself into his lover the two moved as one, with the Englishman conducting Xabi’s body through notes he didn’t even know he could hit until they climaxed simultaneously. The two laid side by side, sweat soaked and panting to catch their breath.

“Not bad for someone who was dying to catch his breath only a week ago,” Xabi said looking into the blue eyes of his lover.

“Things are only going to get better,” Steven replied with a little chuckle.

“Want to go again?”

“I thought you’d never ask,” Steven said rolling over as he and Xabi went at each other with an aggression dominated not by hatred, but pure, passionate love.

The following morning, Steven was sitting on the couch eating his usual bowl of cereal, flipping the channels on the television whereby he landed on a news station.

“Jose Mourinho has been taken into custody this morning by Italian officials as he was linked with the attempted murder of Liverpool Football Club captain and midfielder Steven Gerrard last week,” the reporter said.

Steven spat a mouthful of cereal and milk across the living room from the shock and the laughter that erupted from his mouth. “Xabi come here quick!” Steven said wiping the milk that was trickling down his chin away.

“What? What is it? Are you ok?”

“Yeah I’m fine. But look at this,” Steven said turning the volume on the television up.

“It is believed that Mourinho purchased the strand of the plague in Italy and had an unknown alias deliver it after Liverpool FC’s match with Hull City. When asked why he did it, Mourinho told our reporters that it was because ‘Steven turned down two moves to Chelsea. He could’ve had it all and he turned it down just like that. I will not apologize for my actions – it is he who should be apologizing to me’.”

“I guess some people can’t always get what they want,” Xabi said after he had watched the remainder of the news report.

“No but I always get what I want,” Steven said pulling Xabi onto the couch on top of him.

“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” Xabi asked pressing his lips to Steven’s.

“Only a million times since I got out of the hospital.”

“I love you.”

“Make that a million an one.”

Title: The Most Beautiful Nightmare (Part 3)

Pairings/Characters: Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard.

Rating: PG-13 (Maybe not even that)

Summary: Steven and Xabi come face to face for the first time in a while and have their first heart-to-heart since Xabi got back to Merseyside.

Steven ghosted in behind Xabi’s assailant, making no sound at all. In an instant he had securely wrapped his own hand around the attackers forearm, the one that held the gun, and one second later with a flick of his own wrist, Steven cleanly snapped the assailant’s ulna and radius, intertwining them like a bread tie.

Only moments after drifting into a comfortable slumber, Xabi was snatched back into reality by a blood curdling scream that pierced the silence of the night, and the crunching sound of the bones breaking, splintering, and shattering. He shot straight up, sitting in his bed alert. Illuminated by the moonlight through his bedroom window, he saw the unknown assailant who earlier had threatened his life and the silhouette of his Steven – his savior and guardian angel.

“And here I was under the impression that you burglars were supposed to be quite smart – alert to your surroundings and silent,” Steven said in the lowest of tones, just audible enough for human ears to hear it, with a hint of sarcasm present in his voice. Then he let out a soft chuckle before backing the assailant towards the closed window of the bedroom inch by inch.

“Yo…you…you’re a monster!” the assailant stammered holding his mangled looking deformed forearm that had held the gun in Xabi’s direction with his seizure-like finger, full of anticipation, ready to pull the trigger and end an innocent life.

“Oh, does your arm hurt? Maybe you should have a doctor take a look at it,” Steven said sarcastically, peeling his lips back to reveal his shimmering white fangs, and edging ever closer to the assailant backing him further and further towards the window. Xabi had enough time to blink once and as he opened his eyes, the assailant had been backed so far against the window that he’d fallen backwards through it plummeting to his death.

“I think this is yours,” Steven said to no one in particular picking the gun up from the floor and throwing it out the broken window, which hit the ground marked by the definitive sound of a bullet being fired, glass breaking, and a car alarm going off.

“The other one has gone,” he said through gritted teeth, tension in his voice.

“What…what are you talking about?” Xabi asked confused and shocked.

“Talk to me Xabi…before I decide to go after him,” Steven continued with tension increasing in his voice.

“Alright, how about this,” Xabi said still sitting up in his bed. “Why the hell have you been ignoring me since I got back from the European Championships?”

“I believe Danny already told you,” Steven hissed through gritted teeth, as he took a seat in the bed next to Xabi.

“Yeah, he told me that…that you were bitten in Portugal over the summer while on vacation,” Xabi said trying to avoid the word that described what Steven truly was.

“He’s not mistaken,” Steven said beginning to calm down.

“I…I realize that now,” Xabi said. “Just today I’ve come to realize that you’re unnaturally fast and strong. Your skin is whiter than usual…and ice cold,” Xabi continued grazing the tips of his fingers against Steven’s cheek.

“Say it. Say it Xabi. What am I?” Steven demanded now, looking at Xabi with a piercing gaze.

“Vam…vampire” Xabi stammered.

“Are you scared?” Steven whispered in his ear. “Of course you are. I’m a monster.”

Xabi drew his fist back and attempted to strike Steven in the jaw that moments ago he had grazed his fingers against. However, his efforts were foiled by Steven who had grabbed his fist before he had time to react.

“That’s probably not a good idea,” Steven said coy-like.

Steven disappeared, giving Xabi just enough time to blink once, and he was back, a knife in hand, whose silver blade caught the glow of the moon.

“Take it,” Steven said offering the knife to the Spaniard.

“What am I supposed to do with this?” Xabi said baffled.

“Cut me.”

“I…I can’t Steven. No, I won’t no matter how bad you’ve treated me.”

Steven took the knife back and pressed the blade to his neck, right on top of the jugular vein that snaked itself up the left side if his neck.

“No, don’t do it!” Xabi yelled lunging to try gain possession of the knife back.

Steven chuckled and pulled the knife across his neck at an angle. As he did so, the knife cracked and then shattered, sending silver fragments in multiple directions, collecting the glow of Luna as they fell to the floor. Xabi’s red flushed face was in sharp contrast to the pale white from the moon and Steven’s skin.

“As cute as ever,” Steven said placing his hand against Xabi’s face.

“Don’t think your charm is going to get you out of this. You still haven’t answered my question. Why have you been ignoring me?”

“Your blood,” Steven said.

“Excuse me,” Xabi said.

“The scent of your blood drives me…crazy,” Steven elaborated. “Your blood is like the song of a siren that calls me to you. I was afraid that if I couldn’t control my thirst for blood that I’d…” Steven gulped. “…I’d attack and harm you in ways that I can’t even imagine. I felt it was in both of our best interests for me to stay away from you. So, I figured the best way to do that was to ignore you. But, when all is said and done, you’re just too damn irresistible,” Steven said with a soft chuckle, continuing to stroke Xabi’s face, which caused Xabi’s body to jerk every now and then as a result of the cold chills that danced along the disks of his spine.

“How long were you planning to ignore me? I mean, you couldn’t have done it forever; not unless I transferred or died – whichever came first.”

“Don’t talk like that Xabi,” Steven said taking Xabi’s head in both of his hands delicately. “And I realize that now – not to mention it seems you have a bulls-eye painted on your back,” he added for a bit of comic relief.

“How have you survived this long? Obviously vampires need blood. And how are you able to stand here now without attacking me?” Xabi asked as he and Steven lied back in the bed side-by-side.

“When I was first bitten my need for human blood was near uncontrollable, but no matter how strong that craving was I couldn’t bring myself to kill a human – no matter whether they were good or bad. So for the first week or so I lived off of blood that I stole from the blood banks in hospitals or suffered in solitude. Soon thereafter, I discovered I could satisfy my thirst for blood by drinking that of animals, and now I hunt.”

“Uh-huh, I see. That makes sense.”

“And there is still a chance that I could attack you, but I think I have the thirst well enough under control…for now. But, there is no guarantee that I won’t attack you and therein lays the problem.”

Xabi ignored that last part of Steven’s response. He didn’t care how much danger he was in, so long as he and Steven were reunited. They were two halves of the same whole, each of them the other’s better half. “So how did you know that those burglars had broken into my house?”

“To be honest, I have spent the night with you every night since you got back to England. They just happened to pick the wrong house to rob so I decided to clean up the mess.”

“And earlier today, when you saved me…where did you come from?”

“I had been following you…I know it sounds creepy,” Steven said quickly in response to the weird look that Xabi was now giving him. “But I feel…obligated to protect you…at all costs,” Steven said, choosing each word carefully. “You are my life now Xabi Alonso even more so than when I was human,” Steven said pressing his forehead to the Spaniards, his ocean blue eyes meeting the sandy brown eyes of his lover. “I know I have been guilty of a lot of things recently…acting like a jerk, ignoring you, and not explaining myself. But, I have also been guilty of missing you every month, every week, every day, every hour, every minute, and every second that you were gone and have not been here with me.”

The two sat in silence a while, Xabi tracing circles on Steven’s midsection with his index finger, Steven taking in his surroundings, completely absorbed in the moment. These were the times he missed most while Xabi was gone – the both of them lying together.

“Your heart…” Steven said finally breaking the silence.

Xabi stood on the outskirts of the training pitch watching faces of new and old conversing before that mornings training session. He inhaled the Melwood breeze in deeply.

“It’s good to be home,” he said.

Xabi began to scan the groups and pairings of players and staff looking for the man that only dreams could conjure. It had been nearly two months since the Spaniard had see the Scouser due to the European Championships and that was far too long as far as Xabi was concerned. And at the end of that morning’s session, instead of Xabi and Steven being the last into the locker room, Steven was the first in and the first out. By the time Xabi had made it into the locker room, there was no trace of the Scouser leaving Xabi no time to talk to him.

Xabi couldn’t tell which emotion was stronger: his confusion or his pain. However, the two of them in combination were ripping his soul apart. For the life of him he could not figure out why Steven was acting the way he was. He sat on one of the benches lining the walls in a day dream-like state wondering what had happened.

“You know Steven, I don’t have to go to the Euro’s if you don’t want me to,” Xabi said with his head resting against his lover’s chest. “I could turn down the call up and spend the summer with you instead,” Xabi continued.

Steven jerked himself out from under the Spaniard leaving Xabi’s head to thud against the mattress and propped himself up on one arm. Steven’s abrupt movement had startled Xabi. “Are you kidding me Xabi? This is the chance of a lifetime and Spain has the team to win this thing and I want you to be there when they do. Sure the separation during the Euro’s had been tough on the both of them; but, then again so had their whole relationship. Before Xabi had boarded his plane to meet up with his teammates, Steven had made him promise to focus on the Euro’s 100 percent. He had told Xabi not to worry about him in the least and that he’d be fine; that everything would be fine. But all was not fine; things were far from fine.

Xabi’s train of thought was interrupted by the voice of Danny, who had come out of nowhere and taken a seat next to him.

“How’re holding up Xabi?”

“Huh, oh, what are you talking about?” Xabi asked trying to discard his emotions like pieces of trash.

Xabi walked through the town replaying events that had led up to the European Championships disregarding the complaints from people who Xabi had bumped into. The winds of change had brought the pouring rain from the overcast that had blanketed the sky from this morning’s training session and creating the illusion that a flash flood could happen at any moment.

The slideshow in Xabi’s head was constantly replaying memories of weeks past, digging, looking, and searching for any sign of what may have sparked this separation of hearts. Xabi, like the walking dead, marched aimlessly in the direction of the Danes house, subconsciously making his way across town in the pouring rain.

As Xabi crossed an intersection, he hadn’t even checked for oncoming traffic. However, as he reached the middle of the street he was brought back to the harsh reality that he was about to face by the sound of a blaring horn that echoed from an oncoming car. Adrenaline kicked in and Xabi tried to dash to the other side of the street, however, he lost his footing and slipped on the wet pavement and fell to a heap in the street.

The adrenaline that had coursed through his veins only seconds ago was now replaced by paralyzing fear that left him rooted to the spot. In a futile attempt, Xabi curled up as if this would reduce the impact. So this is it, this is the end, he thought. The sound of crunching metal and broken glass resounded throughout the streets leaving many spectators flabbergasted.

Title: Like No One Has Ever Tried This Before

“Fuck that,” Stevie said trying to maneuver and position the ball of his foot in the yoga belt. Even with the aid of the belt he wasn’t able to straighten his leg completely. Xabi took his own belt in his hand and slung it across his body where it collided with Stevie’s chest with a loud crack.

“What the fuck was that for Xabi?”

Xabi slapped Stevie across the chest again. “They were both for not watching your mouth.”

“You just wait,” Xabi said, glaring at the smartass that lie next to him.

“O.k. class, thank you for coming today,” Chi Chi said abruptly. “I hope that you were able to release some of that tension that you were harboring today,” she said glaring at the commotion couple in the back of the room.

Summary: Liverpool FC had just qualified for the Group Stage of the Champions League for the umpteenth time by thrashing Sparta Praha away in the capital and the bus ride back to the hotel proves more than interesting. The season is 08/09 and Xabi stayed – if I had my way.

“Steven, I love you and you know that, but you have to sit still!” Xabi said in a low whisper. “Not only is your incessant bouncing driving me crazy, but it is also making it incredibly difficult to read my book.”

“Sorry Xabi, I’m just a little bored.”

“Well, why don’t you read a book or try going to sleep?”

“Xabi…do I look like the type of person that reads books for recreation? Besides, books are boring and I’m to full of energy to sleep.”

“Here,” Xabi said pulling a pad of paper and a Sharpie marker out of his bag. “Draw me a masterpiece,” he said sarcastically tossing the stationary into his partners lap.

So, Stevie set to work doodling away. However, five minutes and a page later he was once again bored. Although, he refrained from bouncing around in the seat so as not to push Xabi’s patience too far – the last thing he wanted was to be deprived of sex for however long, and Stevie knew Xabi meant business when he began to refer to the captain as ‘Steven’. Instead he let his eyes roam the shadows of the bus, listening to the soft snores of his teammates that reverberated over the roar of the bus’ engine.

After he had hit every seat on the bus twice and had identified who was sitting in the seats, he placed his chin on the seat in front of him where the ‘great Dane’ of the team lay asleep by himself. He intently stared at Danny noticing the soft features that made him so boyishly good looking – his smooth skin, brown hair, the multiple freckles…

“Freckles,” Stevie mumbled into the seat followed by a gasp.

“What was that Steven?” Xabi said not even bothering to look up from his book.

Stevie snatched up the marker that he had used earlier to doodle and slithered into the seat in front of him next to Danny. Popping off the top to the marker, he set to work connecting the dots, or rather the freckles that were spread across the younger man’s face.

“Voila! There’s your masterpiece Xabs,” Stevie said after a few minutes.

“Oh my God Steven what have you done?!” Xabi said throwing his book into the vacant seat next to him.

“I drew you a masterpiece. See, here is the Big Dipper…and the Little Dipper is there…oh and this here is just a triangle,” Stevie said pointing out the shapes that patterned Danny’s face.

“Steven, when I told you to ‘draw me a masterpiece’ I wanted you to do it on paper not someone’s face…and your Big Dipper looks like a frog.”

“It’s supposed to be the thought that counts Xabi,” Steven said in a sour tone, crossing his arms.

“You’re right Stevie,” Xabi said kissing Stevie’s forehead. “It is the thought that counts and I appreciate it, but I don’t think Danny will appreciate it when he wakes up and sees it in a mirror.”

“When I see what?” Danny said with a yawn and a stretch.

Steven and Xabi sat wide eyed as Danny sat up.

“What is it? Is there something on my face?”

“I guess you could say that,” Xabi said as he retreated back to his seat.

Danny’s expression went from that of confusion to that of anger as he directed a piercing glaze in Stevie’s direction. Stevie returned the look of hate with that of a wide grin as Danny stood up and marched off to the cubicle known as a bathroom.

“Why’d you have to go and tell him Xabi?” Stevie said slapping the back of Xabi’s head.

“What are you talking about? I didn’t tell him anything.”

“’I guess you could say that’,” Stevie said mocking the Spaniard, tilting his head from side to side childishly.

“You look really unattractive when you do that, you know Steven,” Xabi said glaring, nostrils flaring.

Xabi turned his attention back to his book just as a growl reverberated from the bathroom. Soon after, Danny slammed the door open and hurdled himself over the back of the seat and pinned Stevie to the bottom of it. Grabbing the pillow he began to pummel Stevie’s head left and right.

“Danny…stop…it!” Stevie said between whacks of the pillow.

“Why should I Steven? You don’t seem to be stopping with your pranks anytime soon,” Danny said pausing from his fluffy barrage.

“What are you talking about?” Stevie said innocently thankful that the beating had stopped even if it was only a pillow.

“You know damn good and well what I’m talking about. Two weeks ago you loaded the inside of my cleats with shaving crème. Five days later you swapped my cologne with some girly perfume,” an agitated Danny said.

“That scent smelt wonderful on you by the way,” Stevie said interrupting the Dane and earning another whack from the pillow.

“And three days before this game you put my hand in a warm cup of water after I had crashed at your house,” Danny continued. “Do I need to remind you of that end result?”

The laughter that had been suppressed through Danny’s monologue suddenly erupted from Stevie’s mouth. “I’m…sorry! I…couldn’t…help…it!”

“Ugh! You are impossible Steven,” Danny said.

“Now you know what I deal with day in and out,” Xabi said with his head rested between the head rests of the seats, irritated above all other emotions.

“Huh?” Danny said, utterly baffled.

Xabi pointed behind Danny who was still straddling Stevie. “Oh,” Danny uttered after he had turned to see what had irritated Stevie’s Spanish lover. “Xabi I swear I didn’t me to nor did I know…”

“Daniel, it is fine. He is the one who needs to learn some self control,” Xabi said now pointing at Stevie.

“What the fuck is this, some sort of inquisition?” Stevie said slapping Xabi’s finger away. “What are we even talking about anymore?”

“Take a look for your self,” a blushing Danny squeaked out.

Stevie placed his hands on both sides of Danny’s waist and moved him aside. Peering down his body he could see the mountain of a bulge that was practically tearing the seam of his trainers apart.

“Oh,” Stevie said.

“Oh is right,” Xabi said through his façade – after all how he could he be upset with someone with such an adorable face; but Stevie would never know.

“Xabi I’m sorry, I had no idea…”

“It’s fine Steven. However, as punishment you’re sitting in the seat next to Danny until we get back to the hotel – that should provide me with sufficient time to think of a better punishment.”

“Aw man! Come on Xabi! That’s the same as punishing me,” Danny whined.

“I call window!” Stevie said sliding out from under the Dane and snatching the pillow away from him.

“Finally I’m done,” Xabi said closing his book and placing it back in his bag. He looked over the seat that Danny and Stevie now sat in. The two of them had two completely opposite looks on their faces – Stevie’s was serene and peaceful with snores escaping his mouth every so often, while Danny’s was bitter from not getting being able to retain his seat earlier.

“You know Danny, history repeats itself,” Xabi said waving a Sharpie marker in front of the Dane’s enticingly.

“Give me that!” Danny said snatching the marker away from the smiling Spaniard.

“Mwahahaha! Revenge is sweet!” Danny said capping the marker after he had finished drawing

<(Fast forward to the hotel)>

The players now stood in front of the hotel pulling their bags out of the outside storage compartments of the bus.

“Wow Stevie…your facial hair grows quick,” Nando said pointing to Stevie’s face.

“What the ‘ell are you talking about now Nando?”

Stevie turned to look at his reflection in the side of the bus. “DANNY!!!” Stevie yelled after seeing the mustache and goatee that was drawn on his face.

“He is already inside,” Nando said.

“Come on Stevie, let’s go to bed,” Xabi said wrapping his arm around his fuming lover’s waist. “If it makes it any better, I thought of your punishment mi amor.”

Summary: Due to his lack of first team action, it would seem as though Danny’s energy is just bubbling over and it is about to be released in a very sexual way thanks to a close friend.

Danny had been looking on from the crowd of the Emirate’s Stadium for ninety plus minutes anxiously awaiting the final whistle from the referee. Within a span of twelve minutes he had witnessed two goals from two of the tallest players in the EPL, both of which happened to be his teammates from two different realms of the footballing world.

Being stuck on the sidelines for practically the entirety of the season, Danny felt mutilated as if an essential part of him had been removed. Danny shook his head lightly from side to side. While leaning against the wall opposing the barrier that separated Danny from his prize he was subdued into a conversation by the Romeo-esc Nando that lasted the duration of Wenger’s post match bitch fit.

As Danny turned to say goodbye to Nando, a voice as smooth as satin caught the attention of his ears.

“What do you think they’re talking about Xabi?”

“I think little Danny has got a crush.”

“Really, you think so? Hum…well I must say he has got good taste.”

Xabi slowly turned his head so that Stevie caught the full affect of his glaring gaze.

“Well why don’t you hook up with Nicklas then, huh?” Xabi said arching one of his eyebrows still stabbing Stevie with his gaze.

“Xabi that is not what I meant. I just meant that Nicklas is appealing,” Stevie said hesitating, trying to choose his words carefully while waving his hands back and forth frantically.

“You just dug yourself a hole you’re not getting out of.” With that Xabi raised his fist above his head and brought it down on top of Stevie’s head earning a plea of help from the captain - although the call was not answered in the way he was hoping. Instead the rest of the team turned in their seats and laughed as Xabi began to wrestle Stevie into submission in the limited space the side-by-side seats provided.

Danny turned his head to see the ensuing wrestling match taking place on the bus and exhaled deeply, shaking his head with embarrassment. Nicky on the other hand was laughing at Stevie’s flailing arms that were trying to free himself from Xabi’s iron grip.

3. People who ignore you the entire day and then ask why you didn't talk to them.

4. People who act all nice - makes me sick. They should tell it how it is.

6. People who ask you awkward questions like if you think they're fat or if they look good - ugh.

7. People who complain about being fat and don't do anything to lose the wait and then they go stuff their faces and eat the equivalent of their emotions in donuts - dumbasses.

Carra tossed another ball to Xabi with a slight chuckle. Xabi placed it in the same spot and struck it with the greatest of accuracy with even more power. However, this time the ball curved to the right and made contact with Steven’s right cheek with an even louder smack.

Steven began to hop around holding his arse and cursing so loud that he could be heard in London. He danced back and forth along the goal line still facing the back of the goal.

“Hold tight Stevie. Don’t forget I have one more shot,” Nando said now sitting down laughing hysterically. Carra gasping to catch his breath threw Xabi the third and final ball. Steven finished his showcase performance and took his original place back on the goal line. He bit his lip and braced himself for the pain he knew was coming. Xabi for the final time took two steps back. However, instead of curving the ball as he had done on the first two kicks, he decided to drive the third with all of his power.

The ball whistled through the air and hit Steven square in his arse causing him to fly forward into the back of the net. A noise similar to the sound of fire works resonated around the training ground accompanied by the trio’s laughter.

Carra, Nando, and Xabi had all collapsed on the ground rolling around, laughing hysterically while on the other hand Steven was rolling in the net of the goal hollering like a baby that wants its bottle.

“You,” Steven said freeing himself from the net and getting to his feet. “You did this…you…you…” Steven’s sentenced trailed off as he launched himself at Xabi who looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Xabi leapt to his feet and darted off across the training ground trying to get far away from Steven, who had tripped over his shorts that were wrapped around his ankles and landed flat on his face. This caused an uproar of laughter from Carra and Nando who were still rolling on the ground laughing.

Without giving it a second thought, Steven kicked his shorts off his ankles and into Carra’s face and took off after Xabi bare arse naked. They darted from goal line to goal line, side line to side line until the sun began to set. Carra and Nando were left by the 18 dying from laughter.

Summary: After the rut that Steven hit in his personal life, things are finally starting to look brighter for the captain thanks to a certain Spaniard.

Steven had been home for 30 minutes, all of which had been spent in preparation for his ‘dinner date’ with the Spaniard, Xabi Alonso. He had already taken a shower, shaved, and had brushed his teeth an extra three times and rinsed his mouth out with mouthwash five times. In addition, he saturated himself in varying scents including cologne, deodorant, and aftershave and put extra gel in his hair to ensure it would stand on end.

If all goes according to plan, my hair isn’t the only thing that will be stiff tonight.

Once Steven was content with his hygiene he made his way to his bedroom and after a quick glance at the clock realized that Xabi could be arriving any minute. Steven began to dart back and forth, like a mouse trapped in a maze looking for the cheese at the exit, as he attempted to find his ideal outfit. However, the result was embarrassment and a messy room.

As Steven darted back and forth throwing clothes over his shoulders left and right, he was oblivious to the fact that Xabi, as silent as an assassin, had made his way upstairs and was now leaning against the door frame with his arms and ankles crossed with a childish grin on his face.

“Steven, what are you doing?” Xabi asked as Steven was digging through a pile of clothes.

Steven froze on the spot, hunched over. As he slowly began to straighten up, as if on cue, the towel that was wrapped around his waist fell to the floor at his feet. Steven grabbed the closest thing to him and held it in front of his bare essentials in an attempt to cover up. Xabi was now hunched over with his hands on his knees laughing at the sight before him. This in turn caused all four of Steven’s cheeks to flash a slight shade of red.

“Steven, there is no need for you to try and hide yourself. There is nothing that you have that I haven’t seen in the changing room already,” Xabi said once he had caught his breath and stopped laughing.

“I guess you’re right,” Steven mumbled as he picking the towel up from the floor and wrapped it back around his waist.

Xabi walked over to a pile of clothes, and from it he pulled a pair of jeans and a white, long sleeve, button-up shirt and tossed them to Steven.

“Here. Wear these. I’ll be downstairs waiting. Oh, and by the way Steven. It smells like a Bath and Body Works shop in here and you’re the French whore shopping in it.” With that, Xabi turned on his heels and descended the steps.

He will get what’s coming to him before the nights over – I can promise that!

After Steven had gotten dressed, he went downstairs to find Xabi in the kitchen bustling about like a stereotypical house wife.

“Hope you don’t mind, but we’re having spaghetti tonight. It’ll be done in five minutes,” Xabi said without turning to Steven as if he detected him by means of a sixth sense.

“I’m not worried about what we’re having. I’m just a little puzzled as to how you got dinner cooked so fast. And how you knew where everything was. Have you been stalking me?” Steven said jokingly.

“I’ve been here for about 20 minutes now. I found everything easily and began cooking dinner while you were upstairs getting ready.”

“But how did you get into the house?”

“The gate was open and the door was unlocked. Seriously Steven, you must be more careful.” Xabi said as he prepared two plates of spaghetti and set them on the kitchen table.

Steven went over to the wine cabinet and grabbed a bottle of red wine and two glasses. Setting the two glasses on the table he poured wine into the glasses and took a seat. Xabi followed suit and took a seat across from his captain.

The two enjoyed the semi-romantic dinner and the conversation for quite some time. Between the first and third bottles of wine, the two had managed to talk about anything and everything under the night time sky. You name it, they talked about it: football, their teammates, past games, previous relationships, and the ever so sensitive subject of Michael.

“So Steven, I must know, how are you and Michael doing?” Xabi asked, his eyes locked on Steven’s.

The mood suddenly shifted as Steven cocked his head to the side and glared at the floor.

“You know Steven it isn’t good to bottle your emotions up. That can often make you feel even worse.”

Steven lifted his head up and immediately his eyes were glued to Xabi’s, as if the brown eyes of the Spaniard had the same power as the pendulum of a hypnotist. As a result, Steven’s cracked.

“We’re done. We were done once he decided to transfer to Madrid and leave me and whatever else we had behind,” Steven said as a tear managed to escape his ocean-like eyes and trickle down his cheek.

In a single motion, Xabi rose to his feet and was at his captain’s side and with his thumb he gently wiped the tear from Steven’s face. Placing a finger under Steven’s chin, Xabi guided Steven to his feet effortlessly and into a tight embrace. To Steven, this moment was significant but reminiscent at the same time. Reminiscent of the last time Michael and he had been intimate. At that moment, Steven’s ‘rough and tough’ façade broke and he wept as his face was being cradled in Xabi’s arms.

“There you go. Let go. At some point you have to realize that you’re not meant to hurt; you’re going to have to stop twisting that knife sometime Steven. Gutting yourself will always be that result. “

In an instant, Steven and Xabi’s embrace turned into a passionate kiss. Xabi’s hands snaked down Steven’s shirt, unbuttoning it, before he turned his attention to the jeans that he had picked out only hours ago. The two continued to allow their tongues to duck and weave through each others mouths, exploring every inch of the unfamiliar [but soon to be familiar] territory.

The two stumbled up the stairs and continued to kiss and undress until they were down to their underwear and in Steven’s bedroom.

“Your lips Xabi, they’re like morphine, nearly knocking me out every time I touch them.” Xabi let a smile creep across his face.

With one swift motion, Xabi pushed Steven back onto the bed. Taking position with his face parallel to Steven’s crotch, Xabi began to nibble on Steven’s member through the fabric of his underwear causing it to quickly harden.

Xabi peeled back the band of Steven’s underwear and with great skill began to work his magic causing Steven to throw his head back in ecstasy.

“Fuck Xabi! That feels amazing!” Steven said pulling at the Spaniard’s hair.

Xabi continued to taunt Steven, bringing him to the brink of his climax before he would stop, let it subside, and start all over again.

Although Steven enjoyed the detailed attention he was receiving, he was not one to easily be out done. Soon enough his competitive side took over. In a flash Steven had flipped Xabi onto his back and was now crawling up towards his face like a predator on the prowl.

Now face to face with the Spaniard, Steven simultaneously let out a soft purr and pressed his pelvis hard in to Xabi’s own, causing a moan to escape the Spaniards lips. Needing no more encouragement, Steven snatched Xabi’s underwear down his legs, past his ankles and to the floor. Steven then took Xabi’s gorgeous legs and propped them onto his shoulders.

“So Alonso, how do you want it?” Steven asked while ensuring his lover didn’t go limp.

“I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all.”

“Believe me, you’ll feel something,” Steven said rubbing the head of his throbbing member against the opening of Xabi’s arse. He then began to force his way through the threshold inch by inch until with a final push he was completely in.

“Come on Stevie; is that all you’ve got?” Xabi said sarcastically and tauntingly.

He noticed how velvety smooth the Spaniard’s voice was even in the midst of sex. Each of these things and more made Steven love Xabi more and more with every beat of his heart.

Continuing thrust, Steven bent over and began to passionately kiss his lover. Xabi pulled at Steven’s hair tugging both soft and hard, while Steven continued to fuck him in varying speeds, as if he was trying to create his own trance song.

He stood in the doorway and continued to look around and on the floor he spotted clothes that had been tossed sporadically.

“Well…”

“Oh, fuck Xabi I’m going to…” Steven exclaimed. Carra had to plug his ears to prevent himself from hearing the last part.

“…I guess he’s gotten over Michael,” Carra said exhaling deeply and throwing his hands up in the air.

He tossed the letter on the nearest table, turned around and left.

Upstairs, Steven collapsed onto Xabi as the two began to make out again. The sheets around them were lightly coated in sweat among other bodily fluids.

“Any regrets?” Xabi asked now looking into Steven’s sapphire eyes.

“None whatsoever,” Steven said with a smile before planting a kiss on Xabi’s lips. This time, Steven couldn’t resist the feeling of unconsciousness and he slowly drifted off to sleep with Xabi at his side.

Summary: After the rut that Steven hit in his personal life, things are finally starting to look brighter for the captain thanks to a certain Spaniard.

Steven awoke the next morning to the sound of his mobile vibrating violently on the bedside table indicating that he had received a new text message.

“Who the fuck is text messaging me this early?” he said as he slammed his hand down onto his mobile, snatching it up and flipping it open. Upon seeing that the text was from Alex, his fiancé, he bypassed it and instead checked the time. After doing so, he closed his mobile and placed it back on the table.

“Two more hours until training,” he announced to himself rolling over onto his back so that he was staring straight up at the ceiling.

Suddenly sitting up, he threw his legs out from under the blanket and over the edge of the bed and began to make his way downstairs. Once there, he grabbed a bowl and poured cereal in it from the box that had been sitting on the counter from the previous day. As he walked towards the refrigerator to get the milk, his attention was drawn to a note that was stuck to it with a magnet. It read:

Steven,

I left for Barcelona this morning for a photo shoot – the one I told you about last week. Lilly-Ella is at my mom’s house – her number is by the phone. Have a good week and I’ll see you when I get back.

Love Alex

After he had finished reading the note, he crumbled it into a ball, tossed it into the trash and flung the refrigerator door open.

“She could’ve gone grocery shopping before she left or at least made an attempt,” he said reaching in and grabbing the milk.

Grabbing his bowl, he took a seat at the kitchen table and slid the newspaper over in front of him to read. He skimmed through article after article, headline after headline until he came across one that brought on a sudden wave of emotion.

“Damn it! Even when I try to forget him, I’m still reminded of him!” he said staring at an article about Michael and his transfer to Real Madrid.

Brought on by a sudden loss of appetite, Steven decided to get dressed for that afternoon’s training session. Grabbing his training gear and other necessities, he made his way out the door and to his car.

Steven pulled into the parking lot at Melwood an hour before training was to begin.

“Fuck!” he mumbled under his breath as he spotted a car in the parking lot that was oh so familiar to him. Deeply sighing, he grabbed what he needed from his car and began his long walk to the changing room and the pitch. However, on his way, he saw Michael.

Great.

Little was said between the two of them. Steven took a quick glance, nodded, said ‘hey’ and continued walking. Michael did nothing to disintegrate the tension, and instead continued on his way to his car.

When Steven had changed, he made his way out onto the pitch where he saw a more friendly face in Xabi who was preoccupied with launching balls from midfield into one of the goals with grace that would rival that of any ballerina and Steven could do little but stare in awe at the Spaniard. Steven continued to spectate until Xabi kicked the last of his soccer balls into the net. Then, without warning, Xabi turned on his heels catching Steven completely off guard. Startled, Steven fell flat on his backed as he was knocked over by Xabi’s aura.

Xabi made his way over to his captain, and once there, he stood over him biting his lip to hide the laughter that was slowly rising from up from his diaphragm.

“Are you alright Steven?”

“Yeah…I am,” Steven mumbled still looking upwards.

“Well, that’s good to here,” Xabi said snickering before he finally burst into a fit of hysterical laughter falling to the ground beside Steven.

Steven soon burst into an identical fit of laughter leaving both of the men with cramps in their sides and drowning in their tears.

“What are we laughing at Alonso?” Steven said through the laughter.

“I have no idea!”

A few feet away, Carra and Finnan stood, arms crossed, looking over the two midfielders like the father figures they were.

“Looks like Stevie’s moved on, eh Finns?”

“I’d say…I haven’t seen him this happy since he and Michael were together.”

“Yeah I know; and what about Alonso? I haven’t seen him this noisy, well, ever.”

“Should we ruin their fun?” Finns asked.

“I suppose we should. After all, we only have a few minutes until training begins,” Carra said beginning to walk towards the ‘youngsters’.

“Are you ladies having fun?” Carra said standing in front of the two men on the ground.

“Yeah we are,” Steven said glaring at the vice-captain. “How about helping us up though? These cramps are killing my sides,” Steven said extending an arm upwards which was met by Carra’s while Xabi’s was met by Finnan’s.

Soon, the rest of the team, including Rafa, joined the others on the pitch. From there training progressed as normal, however, Xabi and Steven were inseparable.

After training was done, Steven and Xabi were the last two in the changing room for the second time in a row in less than a week.

“Hey Alonso, you want to come over tonight? Alex is out of town for God knows how long and I could use the company.”

“I would like that very much.”

Great! Here’s my address. If you have any questions, you have my number.”

“What time should I come over?”

“Anytime is fine,” Steven shouted as he ran from the room to his car.

Once in his car, he suddenly remembered that there was nothing to eat at his house.

“I guess I should go shopping he said.”

Summary: Liverpool have just solidified there place in the group stages of the 2005 Champions League. However, how will the departure of one teammate affect the team and more specifically their captain?

Steven sat on the tile floor of the locker room shower with his back to the wall and the water from above drizzling from the shower head. His head resting on his knees, he replayed that nights events. Just moments ago he had experienced two polar opposite feelings: joy and anger. He was happy that Liverpool FC had just won their 2005 Champions League qualifier and was one step closer to Istanbul. However, he was angry at the thought of one of his best mates, Michael Owen, leaving the team for Real Madrid.

How could he? We had promised each other that we would always remain red through and through. And now, of all times, he decides to leave for the Bernabeau. How could he?

That one thought kept echoing throughout Steven's mind: 'how could he?' He couldn't seem to shake it nor wrap his brain around it. It remained there like a ticking time bomb just waiting to detonate. And as the rest of his teammates filed from the locker room in order to go their separate ways, Steven sat rooted to the spot floating between the realms of turbulence and order, oblivious to his surroundings.

Meanwhile, Michael sat on a bench facing the shower where Steven had been ever since the game had ended. No one seemed too worried that their captain had declined in joining in the victory celebrations and instead chosen to commit to solitude on the shower floor; no one except for Michael.

Taking a deep breath, Michael heaved himself from the bench and edged closer and closer to Steven and the shower.

"What do you want? Come to stab me with another knife?" Steven said with his head still resting on his knees.

"No Steven, I came to see how you're holding up," Michael said plopping down next to Steven under the running water.

"How the fuck do you think I'm holding up?" Steven replied in a monotonic voice, with no emotion what so ever.

"Judging from that response, not to well."

You're a quick one.

"Steven I'm sorry..."

"Yeah, I bet you're real damn sorry," Steven said cutting Michael off.

"Steven, I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted that to happen."

"How did you think that this wasn't going to hurt Michael?" Steven said suddenly, snapping his head around slinging water from his bangs. His eyes looked glossy yet lively enough to pierce Michael’s heart.

"I..." Michael said as he looked into Steven's eyes.

"Throwing away the dreams we shared, the time we spent in the youth system, and more importantly our relationship! How did you think that that wasn't going to hurt?" Steven said as he got to his feet.

"No Steven! You can't run away from this," Michael said grabbing Steven's arm and pulling him back to ground level.

Michael now saw why Steven had tried to get up and leave. Tears were now streaming down his cheeks, coexisting with the water from the shower. Steven was never one to show too much emotion. He prided himself on being tough under all circumstances and instead of letting it out, he locked it up. In fact, Michael was one of very few to have seen any weakness from the captain at all.

Steven and Michael now sat next to one another, staring into each others eyes once again. Michael lifted one of his hands, placed it behind Steven's head and brought him into a long kiss.

"I am so sorry Steven."

"I...know...Michael," Steven said as the tears began to flood from his eyes.

Michael brought Steven into another kiss, silencing him on the spot, tasting his secret lover's tears that continued to fall from his blue eyes. Steven's head eventually fell onto Michael's chest where it rested, and there they drifted through what seemed like time and space in what they wanted to be an eternal embrace.

Xabi Alonso, Liverpool FC’s newest signing from Real Sociedad, had gotten half way home when he had realized that he had forgotten his mobile in the Liverpool locker room. He had just now arrived back at Anfield and had walked into the locker room to see his captain with one leg up on a bench drying himself off, his balls swaying from side to side.

“Steven?”

Steven was caught completely off guard. So off guard in fact that he spun around so fast he fell into Xabi’s arms.

“Jeez Xabi…you scared the living shite out of me!”

“Well lucky I was here or you’d have been up the road without directions, no?”

Steven laughed. “You mean up a creek without a paddle, right Xabi?”

“Uh…yes. Same difference, no?” Xabi said hoisting Steven back to his feet.

“Whatever you say Alonso. Whatever you say,” Steven said pulling on his clothes.

“Why are you not out celebrating like the others? You seemed as though you’d be a partier,” Xabi said lighting up the room with his trade mark smile as he took a seat on the bench next to Steven fiddling with his mobile.

“Oh, well I’ve just had a rough day at the office that’s all Xabi.”

“But Steven, we are in a locker room, no?”

Steven now felt as though he was talking to a dumb blond. “Xabi…it is just an expression.”

“Oh right, right.”

“I get the feeling I’m going to have to help you out with your English Alonso. You definitely could use the help.”

“It’s a deal,” Xabi said getting to his feet and heading towards the exit. “See you yesterday!” Xabi said as he walked away.

“You mean tomorrow!” Steven yelled back. “Boy what a roller coaster ride I’ve been on tonight.”

Summary: It is the week before the Champions League clash between Arsenal and Liverpool and all is well, even for two of the team’s star players.

It was the week prior to the first leg of the UEFA Champions League game between Arsenal and Liverpool, and the country, England, seemed to be buzzing. Although England had four teams in the quarterfinals, the focus seemed to be placed on the all English fixture: Arsenal v Liverpool.

However, it wasn't just the general public itself that was excited, but the players themselves were excited as well; more specifically the lads from Melwood. Even though they had made hard work of it to get to where they were in the tournament, all of the lads were confident they would make it through to the semifinals. Best of all, everything seemed to be going Liverpool's way after they'd hit a rough patch in their season: the debate over the club's ownership had finally subdued, the players seemed to be in form, and relationships between certain players were smooth as could be.

Rafa had divided that week into several segments in preparation for the Arsenal trilogy and it so happened that the first day happened to be video review day. The team had gathered outside of the room where they would spend the next few hours going over Arsenal game footage during different parts of the season. Steven Gerrard walked up to the crowd of his conversing teammates to be greeted by Jamie Carragher.

"All right?" Carra said, rather too enthusiastically for Stevie's taste.

"Smashing," Stevie said in a sarcastic tone while rubbing his eyes. "Is Rafa here yet?"

"Not that I know of," Carra said looking over the mass of players.

"Then why in bloody hell did we have to be here no later than 7:30?" Stevie asked in a tired tone of voice.

Carra's attention had shifted from Stevie to the space behind him midway through Stevie's sentence, and his eyes stayed there in a fixed gaze. Then a smile crept across his face.

"Rafa's right behind me, isn't he?" Stevie asked nodding his head up and down, already knowing what the answer was.

"Steven, why would ask such a stupid question? You know why we are here this early," Rafa said in his typical tone of voice.

After making his way through the crowd of players, Rafa unlocked the door and ushered his players inside. Once everyone was inside, he demanded that everyone take a seat immediately.

"To save us time, I had the equipment set up yesterday. In addition, the less you talk the sooner you will be out of here and back into your beds."

Just as Rafa had turned the projector on, Xabi Alonso came stumbling through the door landing in a heap on the floor.

"Sorry I'm late Rafa," he said picking himself up off the floor. "The baby kept me up...my alarm...and traffic...and..." Xabi said while trying to gather his breath.

After managing to quiet the rest of the team's laughter, Rafa held a hand to Xabi's face in an effort to shut him up. "It is fine Xabier...we are just about to start, now please, if you don't mind, take a seat over there. "

Xabi's seat was on the opposite side of the room from Stevie's, but the two were facing one another.

Perfect, Xabi thought, I may not be able to get the whole team back for laughing at me, but I can sure get revenge on Stevie.

Rafa stood at the front of the room with all eyes on him, pacing back and forth, speaking about formations, plays and other things of the tactical sort.

Now is my chance Xabi thought after taking a quick glance to make sure Rafa wasn't watching.

Xabi grabbed his water bottle that was at the leg of his chair and placed it in his lap. He dug into his pocket and found a small slip of paper, perfect. Wadding it up, he launched it across the room, pegging Stevie in the side of the head. Stevie jerked his head around, looking a mixture of dazed, confused, and mostly tired.

Hardly the response I was anticipating. Oh well.

Xabi picked the water bottle up out of his lap and with a smirk, placed the top of it in front of his mouth. Sticking his tongue out, he began to swirl it around the cap causing the captain's eyes to grow wider by the second.

Now I've got your attention...looks awfully familiar doesn't it Stevie?

Carra diverted his attention away from Rafa for a minute to see Xabi taunting Stevie and Stevie mouthing 'stop it'. Rolling his eyes, he went back to focusing on what Rafa was talking about.

Stevie was in a fixed gazed, almost hypnotized by the circular motions of Xabi's tongue.

"Oh fuck," Stevie said in a whisper.

"Is there something wrong Stevie," Rafa asked causing Stevie's face to turn Liverpool red. The entire team's attention shifted as Stevie was now in the limelight.

"Yes Stevie, do tell," Xabi said snickering with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.

"Oh, it's nothing at all Rafa," he said frantically crossing his arms and pressing them into his lap, attempting to hide the bulge that had developed as a result of Xabi's enticing display.

"Very well then," Rafa said. "Now if I may continue."

Stevie now turned his attention back to his secret lover and with an angry look in his eyes, mouthed the words 'you just wait". And with that, they turned there attention back to Rafa, all the while Stevie was formulating his revenge.

An hour or so passed before Rafa had finished talking to the team. "Alright I want you here the same time tomorrow," he said. "We have a lot of training to do."

Stevie was the first one to dart from the room. "Sorry Rafa, duty calls!" Darting down the hall way, he ducked inside an empty room once he felt he was out of sight of any of his teammates, lying in wait. The rest of the team soon followed suit and left the room in a mass that resembled a stampede on the African savannah, all except Nando and Carra who stayed behind to talk to Rafa at his request.

Xabi was at the back of the mass, thinking of what Stevie's 'revenge' could possibly be. That was until he was grabbed and snatched inside of a room, only to be greeted by a familiar voice.

"You cheeky little bastard."

"Oh but Stevie, what ever do you mean?" Xabi said with a sarcastic innocence.

"You know damn bloody well what you did!"

"Oh you mean that," Xabi said shifting his eyes to the bulge in Stevie's jeans.

"What were you thinking?"

"I was thinking that I was going to get revenge on you for laughing...but in a fun way of course mi amor," Xabi said with a smile.

"Well Xabi, you know what I'm thinking," Stevie said licking his lips like a predator about to pounce on his pray.

I have a pretty good idea.

With that, Stevie grabbed Xabi and brought him into a passionate kiss. The two began to explore each others mouths passionately, like two long lost lovers.

"What do you say we get down to business Xabi?"

"I'm all yours," Xabi said holding his arms out.

And with that Stevie flipped Xabi over, pressing his stomach into the wall. He then proceeded to press his own body into his lover's, grinding into him, only to reach his arms around, undo Xabi's jeans and pull them down just enough to reveal the Spaniards arse.

"What is that sound Carra?"

Carra stopped next to Nando and listened intently before finally realizing what the sound was.

Stevie jerked his head around so fast he nearly gave himself whiplash. "Fuckin' a!!! What the hell is your problem Carra?"
