it's the season...

One of the best things about Christmas? Loads of awesome writers who I haven't heard of in a very long time posted Christmas fics. *beams* I'm so looking forward to reading them! :D

Sorry for having been rather quiet recently, but I have a couple of very good excuses:

I made Christmas cookies with teh_farmer. Those of you who know me are aware that I can't bake to save my life. Cooking works fine, but baking always ends up in a disaster. Especially when I try out things for the first time. However, this time was different! We made cookies that look like breads with butter (and some cut chives on top) and are therefore called "butter breads", and they turned out to be exceedingly awesome. :D
For the first time in my life I managed to buy all my Christmas presents before the big rush. :D All I have left to do is to arrange my grandparents' presents in the gift basket I organised for them, and to wrap all the other presents before I drive to my parents' tonight. GO ME! :D
I'll also be able to fulfil at least one wish from every Christmas Wishlist you guys have linked me to! Meaning I'm going to spam your flists later today, so ye be warned. ;)

I'm going to put up my Christmas stocking here, so if anyone has fulfilled a wish from my own Christmas Wishlist, please post a comment with a link so I don't miss it! :D

Tiny little celebration

Not finished yet with editing Ravages (not by far) but the whole fanfic has at least been rewritten into an original story. I can now read it from beginning to end, see a lot of work, but not the "wrong" names and situations.
Beta Tess is enjoying a more than deserved working on her own writing/preparing for Christmas beta-holiday, but there's still more than enough for me to do.

Think I'm going to spoil myself with writing a wintery Finns/Dan fic(let)

Finally put up the tree. That is to say: oldest son moon had to dig up the stuff from the attic and other mrs. Moon had her annual fight with the strings of lamps. (needless to say other mrs. Moon won) I did the rest. And that's obvious, because again we are the proud owners of the ugliest Christmas tree in the region.
Now all we have to do is hope youngest son is able to get back from girlfriend the day before Christmas. Trains are a disaster at the moment and roads are not really safe either.

Tiny bit sad too. Had to kill one of my babies when rewriting chapter 33 of Ravages. But what has to be done, has to be done. I couldn't keep it in, pretty as it was.

Have started a S/X Christmas ficcie, because how could I not. Exchange fic is well on its way (not mentioning any names) And with a bit of luck I'll find a bit of time for my almost OTP.

That match was one of the toughest ones since the semi final against Chelsea. In the last minutes of the second half I was feeling the very same way - "Finally our dream came to the end. Well done boys, I'm proud of you." But OH, the goddess of football seemed to be still on our side.

The commentator on the channel I was watching kept saying stupid and it got me really annoyed, but I found myself tearing up when I heard the guy saying right after Leo scored the crucial goal, "Messi netted with his chest, it's like he repaid his boyhood club's favor with all his heart." :'-)

The only thing that made me sad was that Bojan looked like he was totally pissed off.

Having another attack of "what the fuck do I think I'm doing"
So yeah, it's an interesting story idea and the characters are nice. But who wants nice? They want complex and ugly and deeply unhappy. And publishers want what is already there. Just more of it. And there are very few, if any, books that look like mine.
Okay, so then I have to make a sales pitch out of that. ;-)

And of course at the moment I see nothing but flaws, but that will pass. It always does.

Chapter 32 gets done anyway, and by the end of the year I've rewritten all 35.

And I still love this beyond reason. I need to write this book. Even knowing what I know. But dear oh dear, I'm so going to get hurt.

this weekend...

On Thursday we had our annual Christmas party at work. Everyone contributed to it, and so we had a HUGE buffet with about 30 different foodstuffs. And it was SO YUMMY. I ate far too much, and I almost couldn't move when I had finished. *LOL* I complained loudly that there was too much to eat and one couldn't try everything without being extremely stuffed afterwards. XD Once I get the photos, I'll definitely share a pic of our awesome buffet.
Yesterday, my parents and I drove to a little town about 1.5 hours from Augsburg where their former workmate is buried. We hadn't visited the grave since the funeral, so we decided to finally make the trip. We also went to an awesome restaurant where I had the world's best (probably) roast saddle of lamb with a tomato-rosemary sauce, bacon beans and little potato croquette balls. I salivate when I just think about it. Must try make it myself.
I also finally managed to take my Christmas mail to the post office, and once again realised how horribly expensive German mail is. It's preposterous how much we pay for parcels. *sigh* Anyway, I hope the postcards and parcels will arrive in time at least!
